Appeal

Tammy and I went back to the court today to ask about our case. The prosecutor had turned in her application for appeal and her reason was the age difference between Joe and Vacya again. That shouldn't even be an issue anymore since the adoption was only in my name this time, but she still has a right to appeal for whatever reason and we have to wait for them to go through that process. The secretary at the court (a new one) said that she won't get the appeal processed and sent over to the appeals court until Friday at the earliest. Tammy tried to explain that we are Americans and have been here for three months, but she was not too sympathetic. She said what did it matter to her if we were Americans. She will process our paperwork the same as she would any other. Andrei is going to try to call the deputy judge to see if they can move anything up sooner, but we're not all that optimistic at this point.

J&J,
How frustrating! Unbelievable is right! Unka Bill puts it this way... "For Cryin' Out Loud!"
I'm surprised that the secretary shared the complaint on the application...but at least you know what it is. Can Andrei or Sasha contact the appeals judge or your judge do anything to expedite things?

On the homefront:
Jessie Schilling 27 years old fell off her horse and fractured her pelvis and has other trauma. She was airlifted to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids Sunday night.
Please keep her and family in prayer.

J&J,
My heart aches for you guys. I still can't understand why there is not a speedier process for people in your situation. It should be that for international adoptions that the appeal should be in within a few days so that it could be processed within the 10 day waiting period time. I still don't get how the prosecutor is benefiting from this? Why is she so adamant in stopping this adoption? Hang in there.

Sorry that the paperwork is going to take longer than anticipated. :( As you guys are not the only ones creating the paperwork for them, we can't assume that they are trying to create problems on that end. But, it doesn't really matter, because if God is for this, He will see it through. There can be NO question in Vacya's mind that you guys really want him. You have gone though a lot, and I know he will never forget that.
Definately praying that things will speed up if at all possible. :)

ok guys, so I'm sure there must be a lesson in patience and perseverance in there somewhere. I can't imagine how frustrated you must be if I am this frustrated back here. We will continue to pray and you continue to keep going and you WILL get to the end of this tunnel! We love and miss you both and cannot wait to meet Vacya. Give him a hug for us!

Joe and Jaime,

I so sorry for all the frustration you must be feeling. We have been praying for speedy outcome from here on. We are doing good. Malachi says that he has been missing you forever, and he really loves you guys and can't wait for his new cousin. I know that is how we all feel too! Javan says thank you for getting him a new cousin!
Jeremiah had his first popsicle today. We have a new thickening product that is like a gel, we can mix it with juice, freeze it and it is honey consitancy and it doesn't melt! He was so excited, infact he liked it so much he had two!
